Birchwood
Court, also known as Garden Plaza is a 6 building, 444 family Cooperative,
located in Mineola, NY. The 6 five story buildings are nestled into a garden
like atmosphere, amongst trees, sitting areas, walking paths, and a
children’s playground. The landscaping is maintained by a professional
landscaper, year round, to ensure that the lawns and shrubs are manicured
and cared for, as needed, and so that we can live up to our Garden Plaza
reputation.
The complex is situated on Roslyn Road, and borders Old Country Road to the
immediate South.
Protected by gates, and a 24 hour security guard, using state of the art
technologies and video equipment, Birchwood is in the heart of Nassau County
and conveniently located. Blocks from Roosevelt Field, and many fine stores
and restaurants, Birchwood is also an easy commute to Manhattan via the Long
Island Railroad, a 2 block walk to the Mineola Station. For drivers,
Birchwood is a pleasure with close proximity to major Nassau County
Highways, including the Meadowbrook Parkway, Long Island Expressway, and the
Northern State Parkway. Nassau County Offices, Winthrop Hospital, and the
Courts are all within easy walking distance, from Birchwood, yet, with all
of these surroundings, we remain private and well hidden from the general
public.
Each building is fitted with an intercom buzzer, cameras in the lobby, a
state of the art laundry facility, tenant’s storage areas, and service
entrances. A fully trained Maintenance staff and porter crews are
responsible for the upkeep of the grounds, public areas, apartment repairs
and physical plant. They are supervised by an on site Manager, who reports
to the Board of Directors, an elected group of 7 Shareholders who are
charged with setting policies and the decisions that would be associated
with the operation of a large Cooperative residence, both from the
standpoint of finances and the quality of life of our residents.
The brick buildings were constructed in 1960, and converted to Cooperative
in 1981. They consist of 74 apartments, including studios, one bedroom,
Junior 4’s, and two bedroom residences. Some of the apartments include
terraces. There are a variety of apartment layouts to suit the lifestyles of
all. All layouts boast ample closet space.
New high end, energy saving windows have recently been installed in all
apartments, the elevators were recently upgraded both mechanically, and
aesthetically, and are serviced by qualified mechanics, as needed. All
apartments are wired for Cable TV. Those residents that do not wish to
subscribe to cable television can use the master antenna, at no additional
charge. All public corridors are carpeted, recently painted, and have a
compactor room for trash disposal. There are several bicycle rooms
throughout the complex, that are kept locked, yet available to residents
24/7. Heat and hot water is provided by two high end burners and boilers
that are capable of operating on either oil or gas. Onsite parking is
available for residents, as well as a limited number of individual garages.
